Glass Workshop Experience!
A small museum that conveys the charm of handmade glass through the experience of working with glass and through the about 850 books and glass
Take the A3 exit of Honjo-Azumabashi Station on the Toei Asakusa Line, go straight, cross the second pedestrian crossing, and turn right. The "Little Glass Book Museum" is on your left. You can freely browse valuable handwritten materials by craftsmen, including rare books on glass that are not even in normal libraries (museum catalogs, collections of works by writers, history of glass, specialized books on techniques, etc.). In addition, you can enjoy the experience of carving pictures and letters on glass products handmade by craftsmen using a leutor. We want you to feel the glass that has been around since the Taisho era and to know more about the charm of handmade glass. You can also purchase retro colored glass products that were made by "Matsutoku Glass", in 1918.
In the "Leutor Experience", you can choose your favorite glass products such as glasses, plates, and paperweights all handmade by craftsmen, and freely carve pictures and letters on them to create your own original. Children can also participate safely because it can be easy to carve while referring to a sample and receiving advice. You also take home what you create making for a great souvenir. Up to 6 people can participate at the same time, so it is families or friends while sightseeing in Asakusa. You can participate if there is a vacancy on the day, but it is best to make a reservation. You can check the free times on Twitter. The experience ends at 16:00.
Time required: Approximately 1 hour
Fee: Experience fee 1,000 yen / person + glass fee 1,500 yen ~ (excluding tax)
Age Limit: 5 years old and up * Those under 13 years old must be accompanied by a guardian
Inside the store, you can freely browse about 850 glass-related books, collections of works, and rare materials that cannot be found anywhere else. Enjoy looking at ancient glass photo books and works by artists. It's fun to browse the library at an antiquarian bookstore and to enjoy reading in the relaxing space. Handmade glass products by craftsmen at a glass factory with a history of 100 years can only be bought here. Every time you come, you will discover something new because what is available changes. Small vases and other small items are easy to take home, so I definitely recommend them as souvenirs.
